Summary: 6 childhood friends who grew up in the small Hangtian City vowed to stay together forever until an incident occurs during their final year of high school. Now at the age of 30, each with their own personal lives and jobs, the friends reunite with the help of Huang Ying Zi to attend the wedding of Guan Chao. The reunion reignites the old flames of their past helping the group of friends realize the friendship that once was everything truly never disappeared.

COMMENTARIES: 

Episode 1: 

(How cute are they?! 😆)

Wow! I don’t know if it’s because I’m a fan of nostalgia but for a 1^st episode, I thoroughly enjoyed the fast pace build up of the friendship. The parallel between young them vs adult them is an interesting insight. We haven’t learned much but right off the bat you feel the nostalgia with FL. The way they were as kids to teens and now seeing the adult side of their selves. How did they manage to get me encapsulated within 1 episode? And the very end had me so excited already. She’s found Jiang Yi. (*Highkey excited to see FCC on screen again! 😍) Knowing that they’re the leads and will have a thing for each other, I’m eager to find out why he technically ghosted her all these years. What an exciting start! I can’t wait to binge the rest of the episodes already.  

Episode 2: 

Jiang Yi trying to act nonchalant about the 12 years distance when he’s internally really struggling. Huang Yingzi doing her best to keep her composure when Jiang Yi asks how she’s been. She’s really hanging on by the thread and I can tell she truly misses their past. These 2 hiding their feelings all these years makes me sense a lot of heavy foreshadowing. 

Episode 3:

(Guan Chao had prepared gifts individually for them 😭)

I hope they all can attend Guan Chao’s wedding. 🥺Even the sweet Grandma is hopeful. I’m happy Zhuang Yuan last minute decided to join Ying Zi to go home for the wedding. At least these 3 are still happy together.

*sobs* Guan Chao got married and they all showed up to his wedding. His wedding speech hit me hard. I love me some through thick or thin friend type of stuff. It’s always the day 1’s that get you. I just wish Yifei was there to complete their circle. Actually, I'm kind of sad it's not Yifei marrying Guan Chao...

(What a reunion. 🤣)

It seems alcohol is not a good thing for this group whether past or present. Lol. Yay to Yi Fei and Guan Chao getting the easy pass for easily admitting they like each other. But Mingyu took me by surprise just as much as everyone else. Yikes! Huang Yingzi must realize her feelings now, right?

A highlight: Jiang Yi using Zendaya as his “girlfriend” to trick the Aunties had me rolling! 🤣 I knew I recognized her too. 

NOTES

First Impressions

    I am in love with the F6 gang! Their adult counterparts seemingly are like any other adult struggling with the realities of “grown up” things but what really hooks me in is the mysterious tension that lingers around them. From the get go we’re taken into their high school lives where we can clearly see how close and tight-knit these 6 are. The care free simplistic youthful days. I like the contrast it brings to their adult selves. For anyone going through that right now or went through that shift, this part is quite relatable. 

    I already admire their friendship and ship hard. The chemistry of the group is quite natural and you can really feel that these people are your friends too. The chemistry of the leads isn’t sizzling but they have a Tom & Jerry style relationship that’s quite enjoyable to watch. My big ship is Guan Chao and Yi Fei. I saw a few spoilers about this by accident but I still want to ship. However, I don’t know full details so I’m staying to find out!

    The flashbacks don’t seem to bother me per se. I know it’s supposed to help correlate with the present situation but it sometimes feels like certain flashbacks are fillers. I don’t know if it’s just me being impatient but I want to see more of their current selves reconnecting. For a once super close friend group, how could it get to such an awkward point? I sense some major communication issues but hopefully that won’t hinder the plot. Overall, it’s not a bad start. I’m a fan of slice of life dramas like these. I can tell the story will get more gut wrenching. I can’t wait to see how they mend their tension and reconnect.
